History of S.V. Britannia

 

1952 - 1957

 

History of S.V. Britannia started in the early years of the 50‘s with group’s of young people playing football (soccer) in every open space they could find in the neighbor of Piedra Plat and surrounded neighbor. There was  different small group of soccer teams not organized playing against each other in the neighbor witch was Buchi Jan Boys, Tamarijn Boys, Bonny Boys, Chela Boys and many more.

 

In the August of 1957 the first meeting took place in the house of Ms. Mama Chuchu (Johana Sofia) Croes Lampe at Piedra Plat # 69 where about 19 young boys was present, and where a commission was installed with Mr. Ripoldo Croes as leader with the only goal to startup with the procedure to organize an official football team for the youth in the neighbor of Piedra Plat and surrounded areas of Hooiberg, Pavia, Rooi Afo, Cascogne, Seroe Lopes, Seroe Pita, Casibari, Paradera (Partial), Tamarijn, Bloemond and Seroe Preto.

 

In this meeting the color of the uniform of SV Britannia was chosen witch was; yellow and red jersey and blue shorts, and the name Britannia was chosen by Americo (Merco) Croes. The name Britannia was chosen because in that time many team was named by country’s popular in football, as Holandia, Jong Holland (Curacao), Jong Colombia and Jong Aruba. The name Britannia derived from Great Britain witch also is very popular country in football. At the same time the future players of SV Britannia started clining a piece of land witch was given by Martilia Croes for the football team.
